On April 18th, Mark B.Fuller, Co-Founder and Chairman of Monitor Group, visited Tsinghua SEM to give a lecture on the competitiveness of China. Mark Fuller is Co-Founder and Chairman of Monitor Group, the global strategic consulting and advisory firm established since 1982. Headquartered in Boston, USA, Monitor Group reaches across the globe, with 1500 employees in 28 offices in 23 countries serving as strategic partners to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, MNCs, governments and non-profit institutions.
The purpose of his speech focused on the importance of entrepreneurship in China. His findings were that China is in a strong position to become globally competitive from its entrepreneurial culture and the drive of Chinese to open their own companies. Throughout the presentation, Mr. Fuller compared the strengths and weaknesses of both China and India and the prospects for both countries. Following his presentation, he took questions from the audience, including questions about the ability for China’s Multinational Companies to compete abroad and career questions as to whether students should seek work at smaller companies or larger companies.
About Mr. Fuller:
Graduating with the highest honors from Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, Mark went on to become a Harvard Business School professor in strategy formulation and implementation, Co-Director of Harvard’s Project on the Auto Industry and the American Economy, and authored more than a hundred articles, cases, and books. He is frequently invited as keynote or panel speaker to forums, most recently the US-Russia Business Council, the Brussels Forum with the German Marshall Fund, the World Economic Forum, and the All India Management Association 33rd National Management Convention, and has been featured by The Economist, New York Times, The Japan Times, The Moscow Business Times, and the Wall Street Journal.
