Professor LI Daokui Speaking on the Seminar

The financial crisis has brought about impacts and concerns around the world, and China is no exception. Various questions emerge: How would Chinese government adjust its policies to ensure stable economic development? What will the Chinese economic climate be like in 2010? How will enterprises react to the new policies? In this year’s seminar, Professor LI Daokui addressed those concerns. His wits, humor and copious quotes were widely applauded by the audience.

According to Professor LI Daokui, China will have to deal with tough challenges in the changed international environment, to explain which, he talked about the excess liquidity in China, the economic imbalance before the crisis, green environmentalism, the declined importance of USD, the emerging markets and the significance of natural resources in the post-crisis era. In the speech, Professor LI Daokui also analyzed current Chinese economy. As he contended, there was a lacking of investment from non-governmental enterprises in 2009, so we should avoid blind optimism when looking forward into 2010. He suggested several governmental moves and pointed out that energy-saving green industries should be a developmental emphasis in the future.
