On May 10, 2010, Students from the Tsinghua IMBA Student Ambassador Program along with the MBA office hosted an Open Day event for the incoming IMBA Class of 2012. The event intends to provide the new students with a glimpse of student life by introducing them to the university campus as well as the opportunity to the learn more about the IMBA program from current students and the faculty.
The new students began the day by attending a lecture on negotiation techniques by visiting MIT Sloan professor Jared CURHAN. They were then treated to lunch with IMBA student ambassadors followed by a relaxing afternoon tour of the campus to digest and relax. To round out the day, the students got to sit down and speak with two panels for a casual Q&A session. The first panel featured Ms. Pearl MAO (Executive Director of MBA programs) and Ms. Kris XIE (Executive Director of IMBA Program) from the MBA office as well as Prof. GAO Xudong (Director of MBA Programs). The second panel included second year IMBA students as well as IMBA student ambassadors. Topics discussed varied from queries about the new MBA curriculum to the MIT exchange program, from student life to tips for living in Beijing.
Of the many students who flew in from all over China and the world, Neil SCHWARTZ – a new student from the US currently living in Shenzhen – had this to say about the event, “The open day was a very positive event and I’m glad that I came to Beijing to attend it. It was a great opportunity not only to meet future classmates but also to get a feel for what everyday life as a student in the IMBA program is like”.
