Mylab to co-operate with a top Chinese university
Jul 12, 2020

Mylab started operations in Beijing in 2009 by acquiring a local company that manufactured information services for Chinese clinical laboratories.

The Finnish company Mylab, which develops healthcare and laboratory information services, is the first company to join the Tsinghua SEM programme launched by the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation Tekes and the top-ranking Tsinghua University located in Beijing. Mylab has been operating in China since 2009, supplying laboratory information systems to over 30 Chinese hospitals.

Within the programme, the MBA students of the Tsinghua School of Economics and Managementwill draw up a business plan for the partner companies. This gives Mylab access to the students’ special expertise, which supports the development of the strategy and business model in the Chinese market. At the same time, the co-operation with Tsinghua offers the company highly valuable contact networks which are of high importance in China.

— I am very pleased with this agreement. We could not have found a better partner in China, says Mylab’s CEO Esa Soini

Tekes’s objective is for the joint programme with Tsinghua to help companies better understand the Chinese market. At the same time, it opens up new business opportunities for Finnish companies. According to Minh Lam, Senior Technology Advisor at Tekes, the programme is also open to companies that are not yet familiar with the Chinese market. Through the programme, they will get a taste of the competitive and market situation and the customers’ needs.

Tekes is also running similar programmes in Shanghai, Singapore and the United States.
