China-Roots Program is a series of lectures and activities designed for Tsinghua SEM international students to quickly gain understanding of business development in China and the current condition of the country’s various industries. The program is organized by the MBA Programs with strong support from prestigious professors, entrepreneurs and corporate executives. As a popular choice, Dr. Frank T. Gallo taught an elective course Doing Business in China.

Corporate visits are all time favourites. Prof. David Robb was invited to present a comprehensive learning experience on March 14th. Prof. Robb combined a lecture of Operation and Supply Chain Management in China together with a case study about Wal-Mart China: Sustainable Operations Strategy and corporate visit to Wal-Mart Store in Wang Jing area.

IMBA student Russ Wee Teck Neu (Class of 2014), helped organize a study trip on March 23rd to Smart Garments, which is a major producer of men’s suits and apparel in Beijing. Ms. Dorothy Seet Poh Kim, the founder of Smart Garments, hosted the trip in person. Dorothy gave a brief introduction of the company and showed students around the factory. The students particularly appreciated the Q&A session and asked crucial questions about the textile industry/entrepreneurship in China. Dorothy answered each question with down to earth experience.
