On May 31 of 2012, Tsinghua SEM held the 2013 enrollment media press for MBA program. Professor Qian Yingyi, dean of Tsinghua SEM, announced the launch of the "MBA + X Double-degree Program”. Assistant dean Professor Gao Jian introduced four initiatives to deepen the MBA curriculum reform. The press was presided over by Ms. Mao Donghui as the deputy managing director of MBA Education Center. Journalists of more than 20 media including Xinhua News Agency, CNS, China Education Television, the Beijing News, 21st Century Business Herald, China Network, Sina and Tencent participated in the event.
Mr. Qian said that "MBA + X Double-degree Program” enabled a student to obtain Tsinghua MBA degree and another postgraduate degree in Tsinghua University during the same period of education. This was different from the double degrees granted jointly or separately by SEM and other business schools in cooperation with overseas universities. For example, the double degree of SEM and MIT referred to the double degree of Tsinghua MBA and MIT Sloan MSMS or the double degree of Tsinghua MBA and HEC MBA in France. The above-mentioned double degrees were characterized by two degrees of Master of Management in the same professional field but of schools in different countries, highlighting the internationalization. Today we launched the "MBA + X Double-degree” to be granted by the same school but in different professional fields, highlighting the educational integration between different professions.

The trial implementation of the "MBA + X Double-degree Program” plans to  enroll about 30 students and will be open to all applicants of part-time Master for 2013 spring semester rather than limited in a professional field or some Departments. Candidates will be enrolled after the independent recruitment procedure of MBA program and Master programs of specific majors in parallel. The brochure on "MBA + X Double-degree Program” and training schemes will be issued later. It is reported that in 2012, 17 departments of Tsinghua enrolled more than 700 part-time Master students in the spring, including the Master of Engineering, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Landscape Architecture.

"MBA + X Double-degree Program” of Tsinghua University plans to explore new ways of developing complex management personnel in line with the strategic needs of the personnel training of the new hundred years. Dean Qian stressed, “We welcome young elites of all walks of life with their dreams to join the ‘MBA + X Double-degree Program’ and look forward to see future industry leader graduate from our program.”

Subsequently, the assistant to President Mr. Gao Jian introduced the four measures of Tsinghua University to deepen the MBA curriculum reform: first, to grasp the future development direction of management education as a precondition and to form a pilot leadership development and coherence; second, to establish the complete chain of entrepreneurship education and to make it down to the earth; third, to strengthen the construction of the experiential learning mode of education and to optimize the distribution and structure of the integrated practice projects to enhance the integration of practical projects and job orientation; fourth, to further enhance the targeting of international experience, to construct the thematic and regional programs with international experience and to provide a variety of choices for students’ personality development.

In recent years, Tsinghua MBA program has maintained the momentum of innovation with the purpose to train more talented students, to consistently improve the quality of Tsinghua MBA program and to better serve the objective of Tsinghua MBA program, i.e. to train future leaders with comprehensive management capabilities and the mission of Tsinghua SEM, i.e. “creating knowledge, developing leaders, contributing to China and affecting the world”.
