Tremendous potential lies in creating positive social or environmental change by leveraging on business. This potentialis waiting to be tapped with breakthrough and bold ideas. Tsinghua CSR Competition seeks innovative CSR ideas to use the power of business to change the world.

Tsinghua CSR Competition

The face of corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) is changing. Public calls for socially responsible behaviors from corporations are on the rise. Governments are urging companies to be more transparent about their CSR actions. Companies are exploring how to execute CSR in strategic ways.

In the first-ever Tsinghua CSR Competition, three companies (“Partner Companies”) are seeking great ideas that they could implement as part of their CSR strategies to solve real-life problems. The Competition therefore aims not only to enhance participants’ knowledge of CSR, but also to equip participants with knowledge and skills that could be used to make a positive impact within their communities.

The Competition is proudly organized by Tsinghua Net Impact, a student organization of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University that aims to cultivate a new generation of leaders who use careers to work for good in their workplaces and the world.

The Task

The Competition seeks to find innovative ideas for strategic CSR solutions. Teams will be given a specific challenge that our Partner Companies want to solve through a CSR initiative. Teams will analyze implications of the challenge on the company and develop a

CSR initiative that would produce the greatest overall impact to the company and society.

This year's Partner Companies are CJ Corporation, China Talent Group, and Taliworks Corporation. Students will analyze pressing challenges that the companies want to address through CSR, including conditions of migrant communities and people with varying disabilities, talent shortage and environmental sustainability.

Teams will receive training on CSR methodologies and skills by established consultancy companies Syntao Co., Ltd, BSR and RuderFinn, Inc. Following the training, teams will submit a written report with breakthrough CSR solutions for the Partner Companies.

Altogether six teams with the most compelling and innovative ideas will advance to the final where each team will be given the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of executive judges. One winning team will win the title of Grand Champion.

Why Compete?
