Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association held its 2013 Annual Council Meeting at Lecture Hall, 2nd Floor of Main Building, Tsinghua University, on the morning of March 23, 2013. The 2012 Work Report and the 2013 Work Plan of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association were discussed and approved at the meeting, together with the co-option of 27 directors, 17 managing directors and 8 deputy presidents and a presenting ceremony for Group Contribution Award and Special Contribution Award. Professor LI Jinliang, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, attended and delivered a speech, and LONG Dawei (MBA1993), Managing Deputy President of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, made a special report. The meeting was hosted by JIANG Peixing (MBA1995), Deputy President and Secretary General of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association. 64 MBA alumni directors from 16 cities and provinces (including Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu and Beijing), and 84 honored alumni and MBA teachers and students attended the meeting.

In his speech, Professor LI introduced to the MBA alumni the three transformations of Tsinghua MBA Program, the leader of China’s MBA Education, in the last five years. Particularly, with MBA education integrated with universities since 2012, “MBA+X”, “Exploring Technology Frontiers at Tsinghua”, “x-lab” and other new measures have come up to manifest the confidence and efforts of Tsinghua MBA Program in consistent pursuit and superiority, and at the same time to encourage and inspire MBA alumni to build up a closer link to the development of Tsinghua. Professor LI also invited the audience to attend the celebration event for the 30th anniversary of Tsinghua SEM in 2014, and made known Alumni Day celebrations in Hong Kong at the end of May for alumni in Hong Kong and Macao.

Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM and President of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, has managed to arrive and have lunch with the alumni directors. He looked back into the establishment of Tsinghua MBA Program in 1991 and its development ever since, and expected the coming 30th anniversary of Tsinghua SEM to be an event accomplishing the missions of Tsinghua SEM, reflecting its history, highlighting its ideological deposits, exerting its influence and prompting innovation and leadership. He wished Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association to grow stronger with joint efforts of alumni and powerful supports from Tsinghua SEM.

Professor CHEN’s recall of 1991, the year when the first 15 Tsinghua MBA students were enrolled, was followed by his delight and joy for the “contributions of successive alumni to the country and people”. “I prefer to be a teacher”, he concluded, and such pride was rewarded by long and warm applauses.

Back from the history, ZHANG Lei, Executive Associate Director of Tsinghua MBA Programs, presented an overview of Tsinghua MBA Programs today, as well as its reforms on courses and recruitments and new measures for strategic development. Interactive activities that are closely related to alumni, such as recruitments for alumni judges, the alumni mentor project for students, course assessment, overseas study tours and lectures by well-known teachers, were specially introduced.
