LI Jinliang, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, gives a speech

Professor LI Jinliang delivered a speech on behalf of SEM. According to LI, education and consulting are typical intellectual industries with great development potentials, as well as the key areas which provide job opportunities for MBA graduates. He expected the Association for Education and Consulting to offer more opportunities to new alumni and MBA students, play a directive role and help with talent training. Professor LI emphasized, “MBA students should be included in the events of the MBA Alumni Association, as not only the audience but also active participators.” Concerning the future work of the Association for Education and Consulting, Professor LI presented a host of constructive ideas. In his opinion, “how to run a trade association for long in the real sense” and “how to innovate under ‘MBA+X’, the new trend of university integration” should be the two major concerns of the Association.

Keynote speech of CANG Zijian, partner of IBM Consulting

WANG Pu, Founder and President of Allpku Management Consultants Ltd., and CANG Zijian, partner of IBM Consulting, made keynote speeches titled “Democracy, Freedom, Equality and Transparency” and “Take the Opportunity of Connected Economy to Lead an Intellectual Growth”, respectively dissecting Allpku under a “microscope” and probing into China’s economy with the “magnifier” of globalization. Many alumni “complained”, “The speeches were too short to get enough.”

Roundtable forum

The roundtable forum was even more star-studded. Guests, including Professor ZHENG Yuhuang from Tsinghua SEM, CUI Zili, partner of Adfaith Management Consulting Inc., WANG Yu (MBA1999F2), partner of H&J Vanguard Research and Consulting Co., Ltd., LIU Yan (MBA2003S2), President of Shengjing360.com, LI Qiang (MBA1999F1), partner of Allpku Management Consultants Ltd., XU Zhong, CANG Zijian and MENG Xiaofan, exchanged ideas and brainstormed on the topics of business management in China today, development of education and consulting, etc. With optimism, LIU Yan believed “there are infinite market opportunities for SMEs”. But in WANG Yu’s opinion, the worst thing for Chinese enterprises is the “absence of a transparent, fair and stable environment”, and “the changeable environment makes enterprises feel insecure”. Professor ZHENG Yuhuang gave his “prescription”: “Always make the best products, be as differentiated as possible, and pursue lifelong loyalty of customers.”

The guests were unexceptionally optimistic for the future of education and consulting. “The growth of China will be astonishing, and so will the potentials of education and consulting”, said WANG Yu, frankly. “A major problem of the consulting industry is its disunity. We should work together, regardless of the company borders and with steadfast efforts”, he continued. The guests then suggested MBA students and the alumni who are interested in education and consulting preparing themselves with quick learning skills, staying perseverant and surefooted, saying NO to temptations and sticking to professional ethics and dreams.

ZHOU Wei, a student of MBA2012I who is determined to changing his career to consulting, attended the forum and stayed till the last minute. “What the guests said was ‘dry’ – their words were true and honest. I am convinced by the discussions that there are still plenty of opportunities, especially in China. I’m confident about the future”, said he joyfully.
