On 9 December 2012, Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Society hosted a salon event with the theme of "Ecological Economy, Green Investment". Investment professionals and the members toured around the Tsinghua alumni-run Leaf Bay Eco-agriculture Park in Baodi District, Tianjin. During that warm winter day, more than 20 Tsinghua alumni and the guests experienced the fun of plucking fresh farm produce and gained first-hand understanding of the business features of Leaf Bay. They also shared experience in developing green business and exchanged views in investing in eco-agriculture projects.
Mr. Zhao Zhongning (MBA203I1), CEO of Leaf Bay, had a thorough and systematic introduction on the Leaf Bay and shared his view on the prospect of organic vegetable production. The team also had a discussion on cost control, market positioning and product promotion. Mr. Lei Lin (PhD, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, 2003), Vice Chairman of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Society and Vice President of Tsinghua Holdings Co. Ltd, invited investment professionals to participate in the event and share their thoughts on how to improve Leaf Bay’s profitability.
After that, Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Society hosted the first executive board meeting and exchanged their views on the daily operation of the Society. Mr. Wen Hui (MBA1994), Chairman of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Society, briefly introduced the work plan and event schedule for the first half of 2013. According to him, the Society should serve the interest of its members and encourage communication among alumni. Therefore, more such visits to alumni-run businesses should be organized in the future to encourage sharing of resources. The meeting also approved the joining of 12 new members. New member representatives, Fan Xiao, Zhou Dandan and Shi Chao, spoke at the meeting.

Appendix: Introduction of Leaf Bay
Beijing Leaf Bay Technology Co. Ltd is China’s largest international organic farm in terms of planned area. In March 2013, it became one of the first such companies to receive the conversion and certification for organic farming under the new national regulation. In August, it became the member of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement) and is one of a small group of IFOAM’s Chinese members. The company is run by the members of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Society. The company always tries to reinvent itself to grow quality organic vegetable, to provide excellent services to customers and to work hard to improve food safety in China. Luo Jianting (EMBA2007B) is the Chairman of Leaf Bay, and Zhao Zhongning (MBA2003I1) is the CEO.
