On 17 December 2012, Award Ceremony for China Development Bank Distinguished International Student Scholarship was held in Tsinghua University. The scholarship program is funded by China Development Bank and managed by China Scholarship Council affiliated with the Ministry of Education. Yuan Li, Vice Chairman of China Development, Liu Jinghui, Secretary-General of China Scholarship Council, and Yuan Si, Vice President of Tsinghua University, presented at the award ceremony and delivered keynote speech. The ceremony was chaired by Li Yanguang, director of China Scholarship Council.

The scholarship was awarded to 44 distinguished international students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, Fudan University and University of International Business and Economics. Five students from Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management received the scholarship, and three of them are from Tsinghua-MIT International MBA Program. The three scholarship winners are Athsran ARAN-ANGKOON (Thailand, MBA2011 I2), Ji Hsiang LUM (Malaysia, MBA2011 I1) and Pinya NITTAYAKASETWAT (Thailand, MBA2011 I1).
China Development Bank Distinguished International Student Scholarship was set up by China Development Bank and China Scholarship Council in 2011 to reward distinguished international students. In 2011, there are more than 20 international students from four universities received this scholarship. This year, the scholarship is given to students from six universities. To ensure that the scholarship is awarded to the “best of bests”, the winners have to be referred by the university and selected by the China Scholarship Council.。

Malaysian student, Ji Hsiang LUM (MBA2011 I1), from Tsinghua-MIT International MBA Program, delivered a speech on behalf of all winners at the award ceremony. In his thank-you speech, he said, “It’s my great honor to become one of the winners of China Development Bank Distinguished International Student Scholarship. At the same time, I also feel the responsibility to study hard, hone my skills and improve my understanding of China.
