The launching ceremony of Tsinghua MBA Orientation 2012 officially began at 4:30 on the afternoon of August 24, 2012. Tsinghua MBA Orientation originated in 1999 as a unique “first course” of MBA curriculum at Tsinghua SEM. This year's event lasts two weeks. Its rich content aims to help students get familiar with the new curriculum system before the official start of the semester, to understand the case study method, to lay the foundation for leadership improvement, to introduce the concept of social responsibility, and to integrate into the Tsinghua MBA community. The participants include both current and new students, faculty, alumni and enterprises from outside Tsinghua.
The theme of Tsinghua MBA Orientation 2012 is “New Color, Hearts Flying High”. A jigsaw game was played at the launching ceremony. Student representatives of 7 classes of IMBA, FMBA and PMBA together with faculty members used 12 puzzle pieces to configure the logo of Tsinghua MBA Orientation 2012. This logo won the popular vote on the twitter-like meibo platform with rich and powerful colors to represent the pluralism and diversity of the Tsinghua MBA group as well as the students’ curiosity and desire for new knowledge and novel way of thinking.
Two Themes & Six Modules
The 2012 Tsinghua MBA orientation includes two major themes of leadership and learning as well as six modules. It emphasizes on leadership development and corporate social responsibility, highlights teamwork cooperation and reinforces communication, exchanges and fusion between current and new students. The purpose of outbound exercises, public service innovation rally, industry forums, lectures and gala is to help new students experience the true Tsinghua spirit and atmosphere as well as the essence of Tsinghua MBA through experiential and interactive activities.
Combining Strengths
Three companies sponsor this year’s orientation - Changhong, Dos Auto and CreditEase. CreditEase has sponsored Tsinghua MBA orientation for four consecutive years.
This year, in the form of “social entrepreneurship innovation rally ", CreditEase organizes freshmen teams to provide innovative and practical “consulting proposals” for 22 active micro, small and medium enterprises of different features.
The Dos Auto Brand Development Forum will be organized during the orientation. The freshmen will have the opportunity to communicate face-to-face with senior executives of Dos Auto, to have a better understanding of the company’s brand strategy in China, and to explore the path to success.
Changhong Group not only supports the "Changhong Dialogue-MBA Industry Sharing Forum", but also supports the closing banquet of the orientation. "Changhong Dialogue -MBA Industry Sharing Forum" will be held on the afternoon of September 9 to help the students with a clear career development direction at the beginning of the semester and to plan MBA learning and living in a targeted manner. Distinguished alumni of various industries will be invited to analyze industry trends and share professional experience and their understanding of MBA study and life.
Passing the Torch
With President of 2011 Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association Mr. Shi Tao delivering the "Passing the torch" banner to 2012 freshmen representative Ms. Zhang Zhao, Tsinghua MBA Orientation 2012 was officially launched. Mr. Shi Tao depicted Tsinghua MBA life as painful joy vividly in his speech to the new students. He said, "Tsinghua MBA is not only an honor, but also a responsibility." The event climaxed with all new MBA students reciting the oath, "We will forever protect the reputation of Tsinghua MBA. We will be socially responsible and adopt a socially responsible attitude towards evaluating problems, making decisions and taking actions."
