Dean QIAN and about 30 students from 2011 Tsinghua-MIT International MBA program met for the ‘Pizza Night’ on June 4 2012. It has been a tradition that the Dean invites students to have afternoon tea or pizza every semester and share SEM initiatives and exchange ideas with them.
At the beginning of the Pizza Night, the Dean specifically mentioned the loss of Charles Hwa from 2010 IMBA and recalled the dialogue with him during last year’s Pizza Night. Some of his suggestions, such as the improvement of class schedule, have already been implemented.
One of the major topic of this year discussion was about the recent formed Student Academic Advisory Committee, which was actually suggested by 2011 IMBA student Jonathan Shan during the last Afternoon Tea in 2011 autumn semester. The committee has been in meeting with the Assistant Dean, Prof. GAO Jian and the Program twice on various issues regarding current curriculum, program management, marketing and so forth and is now a very important source of consultancy for the Dean.
The Dean also brought one good news. From the cohort of 2013, Tsinghua MBA programs will provide dual degree options in not only management field but also in other disciplines. Besides MIT Sloan MSMS and HEC MBA, Tsinghua MBA will have more dual degree partners, other schools of Tsinghua University at this stage. This will further enhanced the student diversity of the Program.
Students communicated freely with the Dean about their experience and opinions on classes, exchange programs and course administration. The Dean answered some of the questions on the spot and took the rest back for further consideration. It is all agreed that IMBA is on the track of becoming even more globalized, and the joint efforts from students and the program management team will guarantee it becoming better every year.
